The Doo Sung is planned to spud MPRL E&P’s Pyi Thar-1 wildcat in Offshore Block A-6 towards early March 2012. Drilling operations include the drilling of a vertical well to a planned total depth of 4,500 feet below sea level in some 680 ft water depth, and of a geological sidetrack, Pyi Thar-1 SDTR to a planned total depth along hole below sea level of some 5,000 ft. The drilling operations target Pliocene Sandstones in mass-flow deposits showing on 3D seismic textbook examples of Direct Hydrocarbon Indications ( “DHI’s” ) in a combination trap of dip closure and sedimentological features.
The drilling of Pyi Thar-1 and Pyi Thar-1 SDTR will fulfill the contractual obligations of the Initial Exploration Period which was extended by one year to allow MPRL E&P to integrate the results of 2D and 3D seismic campaigns and minimize exploration and drilling risks on the drilling of the Pyi Thar prospect. Upon discovery, MPRL E&P intends to enter into Extension Periods, including seismic and drilling commitments. MPRL E&P has mapped numerous other leads and prospects on its 2D and 3D prospects, mostly consisting of clastics channels and fan lobes systems with clear HC potential highlighted by seismic amplitude anomalies related to faults, gas chimneys, and other DHI’s.
MPRL E&P continue to welcome farm-in proposals on this world-class exploration project in this much under-explored province with proven HC potential.
