2D Seismic Campaign gathering momentum in Mann Field
- January 15, 2010
MPRL E&P Pte Ltd. is pleased to announce the start of a 210 km ( full fold ) 2D seismic campaign over the Mann Field. Sichuan International Cooperation Co., Ltd. Oil Exploration Int'l ( SIETCO ) commenced advance party and mobilisation in early December 2009, and the acquisition part of the survey is to start imminently. The aim of this 2D seismic campaign is to obtain a good image of the Mann Deep structure and of its surroundings. MPRL E&P intends to sink a deep wildcat some time in 2010-2011 to probe the petroleum potential of the structure underlying the oil producing Mann Field. MPRL E&P is confident that substantial potential remains to be tapped below the existing field, as shown by a dozen wells which failed to fully appraise the objectives because of excessive overpressures, and the presence of an active cluster of mud volcanoes discharging some light oil and gas South of the town of Minbu.
